Obituary

Howard George Slyer, 68, an area resident for 40 years and formerly of Westchester County, died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Wingate at Dutchess.
Born in Yonkers on December 7, 1942, he was the son of William Charles Slyer, Sr. and Ruth Shelley Slyer. He was a self-employed Artisan who created leatherwork, blown glass and doll houses. He was an avid Harley rider and enjoyed bowling.
Howard is survived by his sons, Douglas Slyer of Carmel and Kenneth Slyer of Wyoming; his brothers, Charles Slyer of Cortlandt Manor, William Slyer Jr. of Malone and Robert Slyer of Georgia; his sister, Nancy Henson of Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Howard Slyer Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
