Hubert Gillner, 83, a resident of Hillside Lake since 1974 and formerly of Middle Village, Queens died on December 2, 2016 at Maplewood at Stony Hill in Bethel, CT.

Born in Schlesien, Germany on November 2, 1933, he was the son of Josef and Magdalena Urbanek Gillner. A Tool and Die Maker by trade, Hubert was employed as a Utilities and Maintenance Supervisor for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals in Ridgefield. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, a member of the Germania Club and an active member of the Germania Soccer Club in Poughkeepsie. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, soccer and woodworking.

On December 27, 1958 in Queens, Hubert married Christa Jung who predeceased him on April 21, 2006. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Roland and Roseli Gillner of Brookfield, CT, and Evelyn and Charles Redahan of Greenwich, CT; his son-in-law, Santos Vasquez of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Isabella, Connor, Sean, Derek, Aidan, Natalia and Riley; his great-grandson, Brayden; and his dear companion, Katherine Ulrich. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Marion Vasquez.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 2pm at the funeral home.
