Ibrahim A. Qatani, 91, an area resident since 1965, died peacefully on June 9, 2023 at his home at the Landing of Poughkeepsie surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Palestine on June 22, 1931, he was the son of Abed and Olga (Gondur) Qatani. Abe had been employed as an Engineer for 30 years with IBM in East Fishkill until his retirement in 1992. He was a lifelong Mets fan.

On October 20, 1956 in Burlington, VT, Abe married the love of his life, Shirley Barnes, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Brenda LQ and Paul Curran, and Marty and Margaret Qatani; and his grandchildren, Christian, Bridget and Evan Qatani, Michalyn and Reilly Curran. He was predeceased by his son, Todd Qatani, on July 10, 1993.

Abe's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the Staff at the Landing of Poughkeepsie for their excellent care and compassion. Special thanks to the staff at Hudson Valley Hospice for their support and care in Abe's final days.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11am. Interment will follow at the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of the Hudson Valley.
