Surrounded by her family, after an amazingly courageous battle against pancreatic cancer, God chose to take home Ingrid Polocko, the most loving, caring and giving woman that we were ever blessed to love and to be loved by.
Ingrid was born in Bobling, Germany on June 20, 1960, the daughter of Heribert and Roswitha Thomas. Ingrid was a graduate of Carmel High School and then studied to become a psychiatric nurse and worked at Putnam Community Services of Rockland Psychiatric Center. Two of Ingrid's many passions included spending time on her boat with her husband and many friends, as well as her devotion to animals.
Ingrid leaves behind the love of her life of 35 years, George Polocko; her son, Brian and his wife Corinne and her granddaughter, Amber; her parents, Roswitha and Heribert Thomas; her sister, Barbara Thomas-Parshley, who couldn't have felt more loved, and her husband Alan; her sister-in-law, Patty Pylypshyn and her husband Mike; her brother-in-law, Dick Wilson; her nieces and nephews, Veronica and Tyler, Heather and Jeff, Kelly and John, Michael and Kristy, Melissa, Hollie, Lori, Maureen, Anna, Joey, Cathy, Danielle and Laura; and many aunts, uncles and cousins especially Mark, Ralph and Claudia. Ingrid was also survived by an amazing group of friends. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Maryann Wilson.
A celebration of Ingrid's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1pm at the Gilead Presbyterian Church, 9 Church Street, Carmel, NY.
