Obituary

Irene A. Emmons, 88, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1965 and formerly of Watertown, MA, died on Friday, January 16, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Lowell, MA on November 17, 1926, she was the daughter of John Joseph and Cecelia Mary Casey Hogan. Irene was employed as a secretary for the First National Bank of Boston. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. She volunteered for more than 40 years at the East Fishkill Community Library, and enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.

On December 27, 1951 in Lowell, MA, Irene married Donald Emmons who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Donald Emmons Jr. of Austin, TX, and Kathleen S. Macrini and her husband Russell of Cold Spring; her sister-in-law, Patricia Hogan of Lowell, MA; her brother-in-law, David A. Emmons of Stoneham, MA; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, William Jeffrey Emmons; and her brother, John J. Hogan.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be in the Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose, MA.
