WAPPINGERS FALLS – Irma Fontanez, 75, an area resident for over 9 years, died peacefully on September 6, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on January 1, 1947, Irma was the daughter of the late Elidio and Julia (Almodóvar) Colón. Irma will be remembered as a "Jack of All Trades" who was able to fix anything! She also enjoyed gardening.

On May 17, 1969, she married Benjamin Fontanez, Sr. who survives at home. She is also survived by her sons and their wives, Benjamin and Mariane Fontanez, Jr. and Richard and Jacqueline Fontanez; her grandchildren, Richard Fontanez, Angelina Fontanez, Jayden Fontanez, Brandon Fontanez, and Ariana Fontanez; her siblings, Evelyn Rivers, Lizette Colón, Carmen Colón, Barbara Pannazzo, Angel Colón, and Chasity Garcia; her brother-in-law, Tony Rodriguez; her nephew, Roger Rodriguez; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2 -5 pm with a funeral service at 4:30 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
