Isaac Murphy Arku Jr. a resident of Hyde Park, NY previously from Hopewell Junction, NY, passed away on September 16, 2021 at the age of 30. "To everything there is a season…" Ecclesiastis 3:1-2.
Isaac Jr., was the second child born to Rev. Dr. Isaac Arku and Rev. Maureen Arku. He was born on December 25th, 1990 in NYC. He was the ultimate Christmas gift. As a child he was energetic, full of life, often mischievous but always making everyone around him laugh. He gave his life to the Lord at a very young age.
Isaac Jr. attended Gayhead Elementary school, Van Wyck Middle School and was a graduate of John Jay Senior High school in Hopewell Junction, NY. He was a part of many clubs in high school, but founded the club DFC "Down For Christ" with his close friends, which uplifted their Christian faith. He was also a member of the East Fishkill Soccer club, where he showed his skills and finesse on the field and I'm sure many boys twisted their ankles trying to catch him. He made an impact on many lives during his school age years, especially musically. He played various instruments including the piano, trumpet and drums. Isaac Jr. was a member of band. His instrument of choice was the trumpet. He played not only in the main band, but also in Jazz band and did he know how to scat!
Isaac Jr. was also an amazing drummer. He enjoyed playing the drums at his fathers church, Light of the World Christian Ministries in Hopewell Junction, where he was a member. His presence will greatly be missed. He was even the face of Dutchess Community College Non-credit course catalog for many years, pictured playing the piano. He felt like a superstar each year we received it in the mail. He thought he was so cool!
Isaac Jr. worked for Verizon for many years, starting out as a sales representative and later advancing to managerial positions. He more recently worked for an oil company called Kimlin Energy.
Isaac had other hobbies including gaming, basketball and bowling. He was a part of a bowling league called the "Funsters". He could bowl better than anyone! Let's not forget how extremely tech savvy he was. He enjoyed dancing, having a good time, making people laugh, and truly enjoyed eating all types of food, especially Jamaican and Ghanaian foods in honor of his heritage. He expressed himself through his music and through dancing. Often referred to as the "life of the party". If there was music, Isaac was definitely, on the dance floor.
Isaac Jr. was a kind, caring and compassionate man. He always put the needs of others before himself. He had a beautiful smile, energy that could fill any room, an infectious laugh and always had a twinkle in his beautiful brown eyes. His mother often said anything he touched turned to gold, meaning he could fix/do anything he put his mind to.
Isaac Jr. is survived by his parents Rev. Dr. Isaac and Maureen, his maternal grandparents Desmond and Kerene Wellington, his sisters Charity and Faith, his brother John, his nephews Caleb and Jacob Noel and his fiancé Alyssa Lynette Smith. Along with a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins and many many dear friends. Isaac is predeceased by his paternal grandparents John and Grace Arku.
Isaac had many names. His family affectionately called him Junior or Jun Jun. Some friends called Speedy Gonzalez or Cookie Monster because he spoke so fast you couldn't understand him at times. While other friends called him "The Mayor" for his charismatic personality and ability to speak to anyone, in any situation. Which ever name we had for him, just know he was loved by his family, friends, church brothers and sisters and will be greatly missed. Junior, "ONYAME, MFA WO NSIE". In his fathers dialect that means "May the Lord keep you safely in His bossom". We love you Isaac!
Calling hours will be Friday October 1st from 5p-7p with a service starting at 7pm at the Fishkill Baptist Church. Committal service will be Saturday October 2nd at 9am Fishkill Baptist Church, following the interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery promptly at 11am.
