VERBANK – James R. Billups, III, 83, a resident of Dutchess County since 1980, died on August 20, 2021 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Ulster County.
Born in Cleveland, OH on August 21, 1937, Jim was the son of the late James and Audrey (Bugg) Billups, Jr. He was employed by IBM in East Fishkill for over 15 years. He then became the owner and operator of Alternative Energy Heating.
Jim attended the Valley Bible Fellowship Church where he was a Trustee, Treasurer and active with the To God Be the Glory Food Ministry. He was also a Trustee on the Board of Clove Valley Cemetery.
On July 16, 1976 in Poughkeepsie, Jim married Virginia Billups who survives at home after 45 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, James R. Billups, IV and his wife Amy, Jason Billups, Audrey Billups, Andrea Morra and her husband Christopher, Alicia Billups, and Amanda Billups-Mueller and her husband Joseph; his grandchildren, Michael, Brielle, Mason, and Seraphina; the entire extended Bigler family; and many of his cousins. Jim was looking forward to meeting his new grandson in January 2022.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 11 am–1pm at Valley Bible Fellowship Hall, 1875 Clove Road, LaGrangeville. A graveside service will follow at 1 pm at Clove Valley Cemetery.
