James J. Catalano, 86, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home on February 22, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Poughkeepsie on April 7, 1930, he was the son of Vincent James and Edith (Gesondi) Catalano. On July 27, 1950, he married Jean Ruth Weber who predeceased him on April 28, 2016.
James attended St. Mary's School in Poughkeepsie and served our country in the United States Army. He was employed as a milk man for Fitchett Brothers and then Darilea in Poughkeepsie. He was a member of the Sons of Italy and a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church. He loved spending time at his home and enjoyed working in the yard.
James is survived by his daughters, Carol Bennett of Hopewell Junction, Debra Raguseo and her husband Michael of Poughkeepsie, Kim Catalano and her partner Mary Medico of Wappingers Falls, and Terri Hale of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren and their spouses, Dana Bennett and Jessica Winship, Deirdre and Matthew Collin, James an d Mandy DeGeorge, Michael and Megan Raguseo, Dominick and Ashley Quitoni, Christopher and Ashley Cuadrado, Bradley and Nicole Cuadrado, Jenna Corbin, Robert Wilson, and Dylan Hale; his 20 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Jean Pierantozzi and Joyce Richards. He was predeceased by his siblings, Edward C. Catalano, Marion Troiano, Janet Borg, Violet Budai and Gloria DuBraski.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 12-3 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 3 pm.
