HOPEWELL JUNCTION - James DeLeon, 71, an area resident for 27 years, died on January 5, 2026 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in the Bronx.
Born in New York City on July 16, 1954, Jimmy was the son of the late Victor and Elisa DeLeon. He retired from the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation after 27 years of service with them.
Affectionately known at home as "Inspector Gadget," Jimmy always had the right tool on hand and could fix or build nearly anything. A true history buff, he loved sharing his knowledge with family and friends.
On July 18, 1989 in the Bronx, Jimmy married Joanne (Vega) DeLeon who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Bianca DeLeon and her partner Eli Dones; his granddaughter, Elizabeth; his siblings, Luis DeLeon and his wife Hilda, Victor DeLeon and his wife Linda; and Carmen DeLeon; his sister-in-law, Isabel DeLeon; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was also predeceased by his son, Robert DeLeon in 2010; and his brother, Hector DeLeon.
