James Raymond Kelly, 54, a Dutchess County resident since 1982, formerly of Yonkers, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 after a 7-year, courageous battle with larynx cancer. He was born in Yonkers on January 14, 1956 to Lester Kelly and Angela Molitor. In 2003, James retired as a safety engineer for Metro North Railroad, where he had been employed for nearly 30 years. An avid outdoorsman, James's hobbies included turkey hunting, fishing & ice fishing, gardening, golfing, and hiking. He enjoyed watching football and was a Buffalo Bills fan. James is survived by his father, Lester Kelly of Egg Harbor, NJ; his mother, Angela Hart of Surfside, Miami Beach, FL; his four daughters, Sandra Angela Kelly-Cohen & her husband Jason of Poughkeepsie, Jessica Faith Kelly of LaGrangeville, Jaime Leigh Kelly of Wappingers Falls, and Katherine Mary Kelly of Wappingers Falls; his grandson, Damian Cody Cohen of Poughkeepsie; his friend & mother of his children, Dorothy Powers-Kelly of Wappingers Falls; his companion, Dolores Reitano of Wappingers Falls; his uncle, Ed Whitney of Yonkers; his "brothers & sisters", Kenneth & Mary Ellen Whitney of Long Island and Joanna Whitney of Yonkers; and his "little brother", Kent White of Milan. James was predeceased by his sister, Suzanne Kelly in 2002 and his aunt, Faith Whitney in 2010. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. following calling hours.
