Obituary

PLEASANT VALLEY – James E. Loughran, 80, an area resident since 2000, died on September 5, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He previously lived in Carmel.

Born on September 25, 1939 in Manhattan, James was the son of the late James and Helen (Koopman) Loughran. James proudly served in the US Navy. He was employed for over 30 years as a maintenance manager for Refined Sugars in Yonkers until his retirement.

James will be remembered as an avid history buff, who also enjoyed watching horse racing, and restoring old furniture. He was a lifelong NY sports fan, especially his beloved NY Giants.

On November 7, 1959 in the Bronx, he married Irene (Lynch) Loughran who predeceased him in 2016. He is survived by his children, Debra Gariolo, Denise Ryan and her husband James, James E. Loughran, Jr., Robert Loughran and his wife Beth, and Christine Riebe and her husband James; his grandchildren, James Ryan, Sal Gariolo (Katie), Danielle Ryan Winchcombe (Dave), Daniel Gariolo, Nick Loughran, Evan Loughran, Amanda Riebe, Brendan Riebe, and Adam Loughran; and great-grandchildren, Alexis Gariolo, Hailie Ryan, Madison Ryan, and Hank Winchcombe; and his siblings, John Loughran, William Loughran, and Helen Routliffe.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 – 7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Denis Church followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
