Obituary

EAST FISHKILL – James F. Martin, 90, an area resident since 2017 and formerly of Cortlandt Manor, died on January 8, 2024 at his home.

Born on August 30, 1933 in Yonkers, he was the son of James and Beatrice (Meyers) Martin. James proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps where he studied Atomic Biological Chemical Warfare, and was employed as an electrician with IBEW 501. James and Patricia enjoyed living in Vero Beach following their retirements. James enjoyed building wooden model ships, reading, watching the Green Bay Packers and New York Mets, and especially loved trips to Shea Stadium to see the Mets play.

On October 13, 1956 in Yonkers, James married the loved of his life, Patricia Shannon, who predeceased him on October 6, 2020. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Brown and her husband Tim, Patricia Arida and James Martin; his grandchildren, Lauren Nittoli and husband Dennis, Lindsay Brown, Shanna Brown, Calista Arida, Edward Arida, Gunnar Gustafson, and Dustin Gustafson; his great-grandchildren, Kenley, Sophia, and Roman Nittoli; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Gustafson; and his sister, Peggy Jamin.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
