James C. Nenni, Sr. 89 of Fishkill, New York died in the arms of his daughter on July 15, 2022 and joined his wife Constance Nenni in eternal rest.
Born in Beacon, he was the son of Helen and Ronald Nenni. He was a devoted father and is survived by his daughter Debra McNamee and her husband Stephen McNamee of Hopewell Junction and his son James C. Nenni, Jr, granddaughter Sarah and great-granddaughter Lucy.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his sisters Rose Quinn of Fishkill, Dee Horton of Hopewell Junction, and his brother Robert Nenni of New Hampshire.
He was owner of Ninnie Construction Corporation, started by his father Ronald Nenni and his father's brother Eugene Ninnie. The excavation business was his life. He started out at age 15 working for his father as a laborer, then as a truck driver. He then enlisted in the US Air Force from 1956 – 1959. James then returned to the business his father started in 1929. In 1963, he became Vice President of Ninnie Construction Corporation. In 1980, he changed the name to Nenni Equipment Corporation. Also in 1980, he started Nenni Construction Co., Inc. which holds 10 office space complex and our yard located on Route 52 in Fishkill. He was also Vice President of Nenni Construction & Excavating Co., Inc. He also owned 102 acres in East Fishkill. In 1968, he won his first project at the IBM complex in East Fishkill and continued to work at all the IBM facilities in the Hudson Valley for the next 29 years. From the early 1990's through today, he has worked on most of the major projects in the area. At one point, in the 1990's he grew the company so large that he had 102 union workers with over 300 pieces of equipment. He was the force behind the excavation business in the Hudson Valley during the 1970's - 1990's and was one of the largest excavating contractors in the area.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The family requests that all attendees wear masks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Joachim's Church, 51 Leonard Street, Beacon followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with military honors.
