Obituary

James Bryan O'Malley, 80, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 9 years, died peacefully at his home on March 31, 2026 surrounded by his wife, Carol, and his children, Bryan and Bridget. He led a blessed and beautiful life.

Born on May 3, 1945 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Phyllis (Harkins) O'Malley. Jim had a wonderful and loving childhood. He received his bachelor's degree from Syracuse University where he was a proud member of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity and served our country for six years in the US Army Reserves. He worked for most of his life as a self-employed Manufacturer's Representative for Industrial Plastics.

Although he traveled often for work, his greatest commitment and priority was his family. He cherished every moment that he spent with his children and grandchildren. He never missed his children's sporting events, concerts, or school events and volunteered as a coach for soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball. As his children aged, he cheered prolifically from the stands for all of their high school games, and he was even known as the "Field Hockey Father of the Year" during Bridget's senior season.

Jim was always very involved in his community. He served for 8 years on the Lopatcong School Board and 6 years as a Lopatcong Town Councilman. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for the Yankees, Giants and Syracuse University. He enjoyed golfing and bowling as well as socializing with his family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol. They met as students at Syracuse University and married on March 29, 1969 in Broadalbin, NY. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Bryan and Marina Marcou-O'Malley, and Bridget "Pumpkin" and Alex Blank; as well as his grandchildren, Maria, Madeleine, Kate, and Niko - who lovingly called him Pop-Pop, as well as his sisters, Peggy Goodrich and Marilyn Tuori and her husband Charles; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his youngest sister Maureen Cross.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 1-4pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service at 3pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Jim's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry at St. Columba Church, PO Box 428, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.
