James Ramos, 77, an Ordained Deacon with the Brooklyn Diocese, died on December 11, 2023 at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack, NJ.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on April 16, 1946, he was the son of Regino Ramos and Cristina Olavarria. He proudly served our country in the US Army from 1966-1968. James had been employed as a Special Education Teacher for the New York City Public School System. In 1986, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Brooklyn, James was ordained a Catholic Deacon. In 2001, his family moved to Hopewell Junction where they were parishioners of St. Columba Church.

On May 24, 1969 in Brooklyn, James married Maria Cristina Jimenez who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, James Joseph Ramos and his wife Katherine Ramos; his daughter, Tania Ramos; his granddaughters, Katarina, and Victoria Ramos; and his brother, Wilfredo Ramos. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Marie Cordero.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 15, from 9-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in James' name to the Epilepsy Foundation or the American Heart Association.
