Obituary

James G. Rattigan, 73, a resident of Murrell's Inlet, SC and Cossayuna, NY, and formerly of Mahopac, NY, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrell's Inlet.

Born in the Bronx on August 16, 1940, he was the son of John and Mary Ellen Heneghan Rattigan. Jim served in the US Army and was a Captain for the City of New York Fire Department. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac and St. Michael's Church in Surfside, SC. He was also a member of the Elks and enjoyed woodworking and golfing. An avid Mets fan, he also loved doing crossword puzzles.

On September 23, 1961 in the Bronx, Jim married Gladys Stanek who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their families: James and Kathleen Rattigan and their children Shannon and Kelly of Hopewell Junction, NY, Kevin and Kathleen Rattigan and their children Dylan, Sara, and Matthew of Stormville, NY, Theresa Rattigan-Davis and Arthur Davis and their son, Sean of North Salem, NY, Brian and Kimberly Rattigan and their children Liam, Eileen, Shane, and Colleen of New Fairfield, CT, and Judy Rattigan and her children Aine and Seamus of Hopewell Junction, NY; his brother, Jack Rattigan of FL; and his sister, Eileen Gregory of Woodcliff Lake, NJ. He was predeceased by his siblings, Sr. Mary Theresa Rattigan, Monica Taylor, Nancy Proulx and Thomas Rattigan.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville, NY. Interment will be on Tuesday at the Cossayuna Lake Cemetery.
