Janet Mae Marinaccio, a resident of Southern Dutchess County for over 70 years, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie following a long battle with emphysema. She was 73.
Born in Mt. Vernon on October 31, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Gabriel and Ethel Traver Mellis. After graduating from Nursing School, Janet spent many years as a home health care nurse in the local area, and later worked for I.B.M. In 1989, she retired as a Quality Control Inspector at the East Fishkill site.
Janet enjoyed traveling, especially times spent at Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore. She and her husband lived in Florida for some time during the 1990s. Her hobbies also included needlepoint and cooking for her family and friends.
On December 19, 1959, she married Robert J. Marinaccio at St. John's Church in Beacon. Mr. Marinaccio survives at home.
Janet is also survived by four sons, Michael Marinaccio & his wife Denise of Hopewell Junction, Robert Marinaccio & his wife Jacqueline of Fishkill, David Marinaccio of Beacon and John Marinaccio of Beacon; her grandchildren, Brett, Breanna, Gabrielle and Robert Marinaccio; her sister, Carol Enson & her husband Michael of Wappingers Falls; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 5 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
