Janet P. Rock, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1995 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Yonkers on November 29, 1933, she was the daughter of John and Janet Kernstock Whalen. She had been employed by Sachs Fifth Avenue for 20 years and enjoyed playing Bingo at the Hillside Lake Firehouse.

Janet is survived by her children, Peter Rock and wife Fran of Wappingers Falls, Frank Rock of NC, Kathy Knesnik and husband Richard of Hopewell Junction, Danny Rock and wife Sandy of Yonkers, Debbie Massey and husband Raymond of CA, John Rock of CA and Diane Ferrari and husband Peter of NC; her sisters, Catherine VanNostrand of NC, Marion Bugos of GA and Dorothy Kowalczyk of GA; her grandchildren, Ricky, Brandon, Raymond, Gregory, Danny, Joseph, Timothy, Brian, Peter, Kerriann, Frankie, Michael J. and Sarah; and her great-grandchildren, Aubrianna, Jasmine and Xavier. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Rock on January 21, 2006; her son, Brian Rock in 2011; and her sister, Evelyn Powerie.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 9:30am at the funeral home with Rev. Taylor Holbrook officiating.
