Janet Marie Guarino Svenson, 54, a lifelong area resident, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie on December 4, 1957, she was the daughter of Roy Guarino of Brooksville, FL and the late Josephine Dantuono Guarino. Janet graduated from John Jay High School and Mount Ida College. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection. She worked tirelessly and lovingly at Tots N Us for 25 years, where she deeply touched the lives of countless children, parents and co-workers. She also worked other jobs over the years and was dedicated to providing the best possible life for her daughter, Erika, whom she devoted her life to. She had a passion for caring for children, a deep love of her cats and other animals, and a commitment to her family and friends which knew no bounds.

In addition to her father and her daughter, Janet is survived by her siblings and their spouses, James and Nancy Guarino of Wappingers Falls, Joseph Guarino of Wappingers Falls, Rosemarie and Alan Bell of LaGrangeville and Roy and Betty Guarino of LaGrange; her nephew, James Guarino; her niece, Kristin Guarino; her sister-in-law, Joan Svenson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins (including her cousin and near sister Marie Totten).

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10am at the funeral home with The Rev. Jean Campbell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
