FISHKILL - Janet V. Turton , 92, an area resident since 2023, died peacefully at home on December 24, 2025. She previously lived in Uniondale, Long Island.

Born on July 3, 1933 in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Janet was the daughter of the late Jerome and Ivy (Edwards) Mendoza. Janet retired from the United Nations in New York City after over 20 years of dedicated service. She will be remembered as a loving, family-oriented woman who cherished her children and grandchildren. A devoted Christian, her faith was an important part of her life.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Turton of Fishkill and Jaime Turton and his wife Allisande of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Jaila and Samiya Turton; her siblings, Maureen Mendoza, Patsy Mendoza, Jean Augustus, and Bianca Mendoza; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Janet was also predeceased by her siblings, Joan Mendoza , Rodman Mendoza, Hayden Mendoza, and Beverly Kirton .
