Janey Frances Tierney

Janey Frances Tierney (Stack) of Fishkill, formerly of Yonkers, New York passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on August 13, 2026. Janey was 83 years old. Janey was born in Brosna, Co. Kerry, Ireland to Maurice and Kathleen Stack, she was one five children.

After coming over to the USA, Janey met the love of her life, John "Sean" Tierney. They met at a Dance in Astoria, Queens and were married on November 14, 1964.

Janey had a passion for Irish music and dancing, shopping, gardening and any little project she could do around the house. She loved spending time with grandchildren. She enjoyed vacationing to Ireland and Florida, as well as cruising on the high seas. Janey will be remembered as a strong woman always ready with a witty comeback. She was very charming, witty and loving who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Janey is survived by her son; David Tierney, her daughters; Pauline (Tim) Mulcahy, Diane Potterton, Kathleen (Paul) Holze, Deirdre Tierney and her beloved grandchildren; Sinéad, Paul, Nicholas, Jessica, Rachelle, Sean, Lauren and Kieran, her sisters; Mary Horgan, Gabrielle O'Sullivan and many nieces and nephews. Janey is predeceased by her husband John "Sean" Tierney, and her son-in-law; Nicholas Potterton.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17th from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Tuesday, August 18th at 11:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
