Jean N. Murray, 90, a local resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie since 1955 and formerly of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Albany on March 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Hack Needham. Jean was a long time member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church where she served on the Flower Committee. She enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels. She was an avid golfer, playing frequently at the IBM Country Club and the Dutchess Golf and Country Club. More than anything, Jean loved spending time with her family and caring for her home.

On March 2, 1946 at St. Vincent de Paul's Church in Albany, NY, Jean married William M. Murray who predeceased her on April 15, 2006. She is survived by her daughters, Karen McClafferty and her husband David of Dallas, TX and Lynn Murray of Poughkeepsie, NY; her grandsons, Michael Gillespie of Hopewell Junction, NY, Stephen Gillespie of Raleigh, NC, Jonathan Gillespie of Tampa, FL, Matthew Jones of Poughkeepsie, NY; her one granddaughter, Ayden Jones of Asheville, NC; her sister, Martha Eldredge of Niagara Falls, NY; 6 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and a nephew.

The family would like to especially thank South Circle 3 nursing staff and technicians at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, and so many members of Hudson Valley Hospice staff for their loving care and concern they showed our mother and grandmother.

A Memorial Service will be held August 29th at 11 am at New Hackensack Reformed Church following inurnment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
