Jean J. Shultis, 89, a resident of the Town of LaGrange for 10 years and formerly of Kingston, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born on October 28, 1919 in Lanesville, she was the daughter of Thomas and Julia Dunham Jansen. She worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Herb Shultis & Son, Inc. in Mount Tremper for 30 years until her retirement in 1984. Jean and Herbert were married for 40 years when he died on January 6, 1994.

Jean is survived by her son, Stephen Shultis and his wife, Lisette of LaGrange; her grandsons, Matthew, Ian, Jacob, Andrew and Luke Shultis; and her brothers, Clarence Jansen of Kingston and William Jansen of Wappingers Falls.  In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Simpson and Evelyn Manchester and her brother, John Jansen.

Callings hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Olive Bridge.
