HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Jean Walsh, 73, an area resident since 1977, passed away on February 9, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in Jefferson Valley.
Born in the Bronx on December 9, 1950, Jean was the daughter of the late Victor and Lucy (Milone) Spaccarelli. She owned Jean's Hallmark Shop in the Galleria at White Plains for over 10 years. Since then, she has been employed by the William D. Walsh Library at Fordham University where she has worked for the last 21 years.
Jean will be missed immensely by her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and always looked forward to hosting family dinners, especially for Christmas. More than anything, she loved watching her grandchildren grow up, and attended many of their activities and functions.
On April 6, 1974 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac, Jean married Thomas J. Walsh who survives at home after close to 50 years of marriage. She is also survived by her children, Jeannette Ginther and her husband Richard of Flower Mound, TX, Kristina Karnovsky and her husband Neal of New York City, and Thomas Walsh of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Richie Ginther, Justin Karnovsky, and Natasha Karnovsky; her siblings, Victor Spaccarelli, John Spaccarelli and his spouse Angel, Phyllis Alexander, Michael Spaccarelli, and Robert Spaccarelli; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 11th from 1-4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Monday, February 12th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
