Jeannine Mary McGuire-Guerra, 59, of Pleasant Valley and formerly of Jupiter, Florida, passed away on May 8, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Peekskill on August 25, 1966, she was the daughter of the late William McGuire and Nora Vetter. Jeannine dedicated many years of service to Dutchess County as the Assistant Director of Medicaid for the Department of Community and Family Services and was a proud member of the CSEA Union. Jeannine was a devoted member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where she generously shared her time and talents through Sunday school, fundraising efforts, Dinner with Santa, Operation Christmas Child, the food pantry, and the CROP Walk. She also served as recording secretary for the Northeastern Cooperative Parish and Chair of the church Administrative Board. Her strong faith, compassion, and commitment to helping others touched many lives.
Above all, Jeannine cherished her family. She was a loving mother, Sister and grandmother who found her greatest joy in the time spent with her children and grandson, Nastacio. She also had a deep love for animals and was actively involved in animal rescue work while pursuing her dream of becoming an animal rehabilitator. Her beloved dogs, Tucker and Meredith, were a special part of her life.
Jeannine is survived by her husband, Jose Guerra; her children, Catey Catalan and her husband Nastacio, Nora Guerra, and Adrian Guerra; John Pillsbury And her grandson, Nastacio Ortiz; her siblings, James, Ronnie, Michael, Maureen, Colleen and Patrick; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Stanley.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
