HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Jeffrey M. Morgan, 12/22/53 - 2/11/24, age 70, a lifelong resident, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 after struggling with a long term illness. He is finally at peace. He was loved and respected by many. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. A self-made man and proud owner of two local businesses.
Jeff was born in Newburgh and then moved to Fishkill briefly to finally wind up in Hopewell Junction where he made his home and businesses with his family. He created his electrical business, JEM Electric Inc., in 1984 and he and his wife turned that into a thriving business. As if he wasn't doing enough, he and his wife created a building company, Morgan Homes Inc., in 1990 building local homes. He loved the construction camaraderie, and usually worked from dawn to dusk daily. He was just that guy that could fix anything and who his friends and co-workers would be drawn to for advice, an argument over the code, or just to hang with. To add to this, his son, Michael, followed in his footsteps at a young age in the electrical field and to date is running the day-to-day business with his mom. Jeff would have been proud of this to keep his love of the business going. Jeff was proud of both his boys. Thomas was a Marine and now a Deputy with the Montrose Sheriff Department in Colorado. Both sons are great fathers to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his home located at Great Sacandaga Lake where he often worked on the home and enjoyed sitting by the campfire with his eyes closed, feet up, and wiggling his toes so we couldn't mess with him. He loved NASCAR races at the track or watching them on television with friends and family.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 38 years, Heidi Morgan (Zipprich), who he married on June 22, 1986, and his sons Michael J. Morgan and his wife Susanne Morgan of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Thomas C. Morgan and his wife Kayla Morgan, of Montrose, Colorado. Jeff has beautiful grandchildren, Trent Morgan and Joseph Angot of Wappingers Falls, and Hannah and Hailey Morgan of Montrose, Colorado and his brother and sister-in-law Bruno and Connie Zipprich of Texas. He is also survived by many friends he met and worked with along the way. Jeff and his wife had small families, therefore they encompassed themselves with the love of friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a funeral service at 6pm.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
