Jennie McDonald, age 94, passed away on February 26, 2024 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on December 19, 1929 in the Bronx to the late Leon and Maura (Cicoira) Popoli. She married her husband Thomas McDonald on October 14, 1951. He predeceased her in 2001.

Jennie was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. For much of her life, Jennie worked for the Girl Scouts of America. Jennie was a brave and kind woman who was completely devoted to her family. She created a beautiful life out of tough beginnings. Her family brought so much joy to her life and she greatly enjoyed spending quality time with them. Jennie was well loved for her feisty attitude and zest for life. In her spare time, she loved watching Jeopardy, playing cards, taking walks, and she was an avid reader.

She is survived by her loving daughter Laura Egan and her husband Robert; her beloved grandchildren: Dan Egan, Amanda Ranellone Egan, Kristen Maher and her husband Mike, and Robert Egan and his wife Jessica; her precious great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Fintan, Alice, Keegan, and Quinn; as well as her sister-in-law Mary Popoli; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband Thomas, Jennie was predeceased by her siblings: Frank Popoli, Sr. Mary Aileen Popoli RSM, Leon Popoli and Tony Popoli.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 9, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church 106 Jackson St. Fishkill. Please meet at the church. Following the Mass, please join the family from 12-2 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main St. Fishkill. After visitation, the family cordially invites everyone to a luncheon to honor Jennie's life at Handshakes in Fishkill, NY.
