PORT ORANGE, FL - Jerome L. McHugh, 81, a resident of Port Orange, FL since 2000, died peacefully at home on March 18, 2026. He previously lived in Poughquag, NY.

Born in New York City, NY, Jerry was the son of the late Cornelius and Esther (Grady) McHugh. Jerry proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Jerry went on to serve with distinction as a member of the New York State Police, retiring after 20 years. During his retirement, he worked for many years at Royal Carting Service Company in Hopewell Junction, NY.

On November 4, 1972 in Hopewell Junction, Jerry married Faye (Foley) McHugh who survives at home after 53 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Ronald and Pam McHugh of Pleasant Valley, NY, Scott and Alicia McHugh of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Kristie McHugh and Jim Erjavec of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Thomas "TJ", Brittney, Heather, Mark, and Madison; his great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Jayce, Everett, and Lillian; his siblings, Sr. Ann McHugh, Kay Williams, Mary Jane Penny, and Donald McHugh; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was also predeceased by 5 siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in memory of Jerry to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
