Jerome Joseph Perez, age 91, passed into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Born in Plymouth, PA on July 31,1932, Jerome (Jerry) was the son of Jerome Manuel and Anna Keralevich Perez. Jerry graduated from King's College located in Wilkes Barre, PA in 1954. He received a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Boston College in 1956. He worked at Penn State as a Chemistry Teacher's Assistant where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Marion Maroney. On August 27, 1960, at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, NY Jerome married Dorothy, who predeceased him in 2017. Jerry taught at the University of Connecticut, Fairfield campus before he joined IBM's East Fishkill Complex in 1967 and had a very successful career, retiring in 1993. After retiring he enjoyed teaching chemistry labs at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie and Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.


Jerry was a parishioner of St. Denis Church, Hopewell Junction, NY. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and skiing, and more importantly he enjoyed gatherings and traveling with his family. For many years he planned annual family vacations to Ocean City, MD and winter ski vacations, as well as family trips to the Dominican Republic, Mexico (Cancun and Punta Cana) and the Canary Islands. He truly enjoyed his trips to Disney World with his grandchildren when they were young.


Jerry is survived by his sons, Jerome (Jerry) and his wife Rita of Prescott, AZ and Mark and his wife Andrea of Woodstock, NY; his son-in-law, Stuart Shapiro of West Grove, PA; his grandchildren, Sarah A. Perez of Washington, NC; Mark J. Perez and his wife Jacklynn of Kingston, NY and their two children Torin and Kaiden; Clifford J. Perez and his wife Margarita of Washington, D.C.; Jakob T. Perez of Woodstock, NY; and Kevin B. Perez of West Grove, PA. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Joseph, his wife Dorothy, his daughter Ann Perez Shapiro, and his granddaughter Alyson Perez, as well as many other family members and loved ones.


Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
