Wappinger – Jessie S. Winter, 87, an area resident since 1977 and formerly of the Bronx, died on September 28, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Born in Manhattan on May 11, 1936, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Cassar) Gerardi. Jessie was a parishioner of St. Columba Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching television, cooking, baking and doing arts and crafts. She loved being near the water and collecting lighthouses.
On May 25, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church in the Bronx, Jessie married William H. Winter who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughters, Mary Lockhart and Roseann Winter. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her sister, Kathryn DeAtley, her in-laws, Henry and Stella (Seroski) Winter and her son-in-law, Bruce Lockhart.
There will be no calling hours. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 12:00 noon at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a luncheon at Pizza Village.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Arbor Day Foundation.
