Joan F. Caruso, 86, a resident of Bedford since 2010 and formerly of Forest Hill Gardens, died on February 15, 2019 at her home.
Born in Brooklyn on April 21, 1932, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (McDermott) O'Connell. Joan Received her bachelor's degree from Queens College, and her master's degree from Rutgers University. She was employed as the Director of Extension Services for the Queensboro Public Library for 40 years until her retirement in 1995.
Joan was a parishioner of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church in Queens. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and reading.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Joyce Corrigan and her husband Gary of Bedford; her son, David Caruso of Los Angeles, CA; and her grandchildren, Jackson Corrigan, Greta Caruso, Marquez Caruso and Paloma Caruso.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.
