Joan M. Flynn, formerly of Pleasantville, NY, passed away quietly at Putnam Ridge Nursing Home in Southeast on September 29, 2023. She was 86.

She was the daughter of the late Franklin and Virginia (Hedgecock) Lent of Pleasantville and born in Mount Kisco on October 18, 1936. On April 26, 1958, she married Robert Flynn from New Rochelle at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville where they raised their 4 children.

Graduating from Pleasantville High School in 1954, Joan pursued a career in nursing entering Grasslands School of Nursing in Valhalla, NY. After graduating nursing school, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Grasslands Hospital. She then worked as a school nurse working in the Pleasantville Middle School and High School retiring in 1998.

In 2000, Joan & Bob decided to build a house in Stormville with a gorgeous view overlooking most of the Hudson Valley which she took great pride in decorating inside and beautiful gardens surrounding the house.

Joan also loved to travel and one of her favorite places to vacation was Long Beach Island NJ with family and friends. Every year, she would gather the family on the front steps for the famous family picture. They enjoyed many cruises and tours. She loved to cook. Every Christmas, the family would look forward to the cookies she spent baking with love and attention. She always baked or cooked to celebrate the occasion whether a holiday or cookout. Her traditions and attention to detail will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her husband Robert Flynn of Fishkill, NY; her son Richard & his wife Terri of Lake George, NY; her daughter Virginia & significant other Peter (Obre) of Newtown, CT; her son Robert & his wife Donna of Stormville, NY; her daughter Elizabeth of Fishkill, NY; her two brothers Franklin & Jerry Lent; 4 Grandchildren Sklyer Bast, Shawn Flynn, Megan Flynn & Shannon Flynn, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9 on Tuesday, October 3 at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, October 4th at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Interment will follow at Kensico Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY
