WAPPINGERS FALLS - Joan Hinderer, 85, an area resident for over 58 years, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 5, 2024. Born in the Bronx on January 30, 1939, Joan was the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Mrsich) Robben.
On June 1, 1963, at St. Raymond's Church in the Bronx, Joan married Joseph John Hinderer. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Joseph, and her children: Marguerite Stein (William) of East Fishkill, Joseph Hinderer (Amy) of Omaha, NE and Thomas Hinderer; her grandchildren, Margaret, Rachel, and Joan Stein, Katelyn Wallace (Nathan), and Eric Hinderer; her sister, Jeanne Homan (Wayne); and her sister-in-law, Betty Coccaro.
Joan retired from a successful career in real estate that spanned over four decades. She had a love of music and was a masterful accordionist. Joan also enjoyed camping, scouting, cruising, being a part of Home Dem, and spending time at the ocean. She had a caring heart as she welcomed several foster children into her home.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10 am at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville followed by burial at Ballard-Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac.
