Joan Ann Nugent MacNintch, age 82, passed away peacefully and pain free after a heart attack on Friday, December 13th at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
She was born on January 22, 1937 in Hillsborough, New Brunswick to Mildred and Lloyd Nugent. She married John (“Ted”) MacNintch on on June 21st, 1958.
She completed high school in three years instead of the usual four. Joan later graduated from Robinson Business College in Moncton, N.B. and then took employment as a secretary with the Imperial Tobacco Company, and the West Lafayette Indiana school system. She later was a teacher's aid at Liverpool High School in Liverpool, NY and worked temporary jobs while Living in Old Saybrook, CT. All the while she was a homemaker, supporting her husband and raising two sons.
She is survived by her husband, Ted, sons Michael and Sean, sister Nancy Preston, daughter-in-law Sarah Kaylor, and step grandson Jacob Richards.
She was passionate about genealogy and wrote three books on the subject throughout her life. She also wrote several short stories as a member of the Clayton, NY “Poets and Writers Club”.
Joan had a huge heart that projected warmth, humility, and love. She had an amazing memory, and a great sense of humor. She was very social, loved to talk, and would talk to anyone. She was a caring and strong person.
