PLEASANT VALLEY – Jocelyn Pollard Card, 88, passed away on April 4, 2018 peacefully at her home. She was a lifelong area resident.
Born in Hyde Park on May 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Blanche Pollard. She graduated as Valedictorian from Roosevelt High School in 1947. Jocelyn, affectionately known as Jackie, worked for many years with her husband at their business, Card Travel Agency, Inc.
Jocelyn's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she treasured dearly. She was most happy when surrounded by her family, whether it was at home or at her lake house. She would share memories with her grandchildren of her times fishing with her father when she was young and waving to President Roosevelt as he would drive by in the mornings. As an adult she learned to ski so that she could join her husband, children and many friends at an activity that filled much of their free time. She also enjoyed drawing, doing puzzles, and watching baseball. She was fortunate to have traveled extensively around the world with her beloved husband Charles. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Jocelyn met her husband of 68 years, Charles T. Card, while they were in high school and they got married on August 22, 1948 in Hyde Park. He predeceased her in 2016. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Leslie and Charles Morgan of Rhinebeck, Robin and Kevin Karn of Poughkeepsie, David and Suzanne Card of Langhorne, PA, and Stacey and William Owen of Pleasant Valley; her grandchildren, Jeremy Perrotta, Justin Karn and his wife Lauren, Lindsay Karn and her fiancé Daniel, Austin Card and his fiancée Jess, Corey Owen, Trevor Owen and Rachel Owen; and many nieces and nephews. Jocelyn was predeceased by her oldest grandchild, David W. Perrotta, Jr., or Davy as he was lovingly called. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am at the funeral home followed by interment in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
