John J. Carroll, 80, an area resident since 1995 and formerly of Mahopac and New Rochelle, died on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in New Rochelle on April 2, 1930, he was the son of Bernard and Lottie Zinck Carroll. He served in the US Army and had been employed by 7UP Bottling Company in New Rochelle for 43 years until his retirement in 1992.
On May 26, 1957 at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle, John married Florence Thomson who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Michael Carroll and his wife Lisa of Poughkeepsie, Steven Carroll and his wife Carolyn of Wappingers Falls, Anne Marie O'Callahan and her husband Daniel of Wappingers Falls, Susan Bondi and her husband Frank of LaGrangeville and Rosemary Palumbo and her husband Robert of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Christina, Brian, Steven Jr., Daniel, Emily and Joseph Bradford, Daniel, Heather, James, Kaitlin, Colleen, John, Frank Jr. and Julie; his great-grandson, Daniel Patrick III; his sisters, Dottie Steelberg, Peggy Umbro and Rosemarie Merigliano; his brothers, Thomas, Richard, Bernard, Butch and Patrick Carroll; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12 p.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley on Wednesday.
