John Joseph Craven, 88, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation in Pawling.

Born on April 10, 1921 in Ireland, he was the son of John and Catherine Byrne Craven.  He was employed as a body mechanic for MABSTOA in Manhattan until his retirement in 1974.

On November 25, 1950 at the Visitation Church in the Bronx, John married Hannah Callaghan who predeceased him on November 24, 2008. He was also predeceased by his son, Sean Joseph Craven, on December 17, 2007 and his brothers, Patrick and Joseph Craven.

Survivors include his son, Patrick Craven of Lake Carmel; his daughter, Kathleen Craven Campbell of Hopewell Junction; his son, Michael Craven of the Bronx; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
