Obituary

John T. DeLawder, 65, a resident of Stormville for 36 years and formerly of Yonkers and Ossining, died on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at the Somers Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Queens on July 18, 1947, he was the son of Gilbert and Agnes Erick DeLawder. John received his BSEE degree from CCNY and his Executive MBA from Pace University. He served our country as a Second Lieutenant in 187th Field Artillery in the New York Army National Guard. He was employed as an Engineer/Distinguished Member of Technical Staff with New York Telephone/NYNEX/Bell Atlantic/ Verizon for 35 years.
John enjoyed sports, computers, souped up cars/trucks and building things. More than anything, he loved being a father and grandpa (Pop Pop), and coaching baseball and softball.
On December 16, 1972 in the Bronx, John married Dolores "Dee" Burke who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Sean DeLawder and wife Marisa, Danielle Calamita and husband Anthony, and Nicole DeLawder; his grandchildren, Jaden, Cali and Ryan DeLawder, and Jack Calamita; and his siblings, James, Jeannette, Kathy, Glen, Thomas, Billy and Mary.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 12-3pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Leukemia Foundation or the Lupus Foundation of America.
