STORMVILLE – John M. Demetriow, 73, an area resident for over 35 years, died on February 21, 2022 at home surrounded by his family.
John was born on September 24, 1948 in Queens and grew up in Astoria. He had also lived in Peekskill and Carmel. He had been employed as an originator at Dutchess County Mortgage in Poughkeepsie and then worked as a concierge for the Trump Residence in Yorktown.
An avid fan of hockey, John lived for the New York Rangers. He was a gifted musician who played the guitar and was a beautiful vocalist. Most of all, he loved his family more than anything in the world.
On April 27, 1985 at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, John married Barbara (Dimmick) Demetriow who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, John Demetriow III of Peekskill, Kimberly Demetriow of New Windsor, and Christopher Demetriow of San Diego, CA; his grandson, Jack Demetriow; his brother, Michael Demetrious; and his nieces and a nephew. John was predeceased by his parents, Michael and May (Matapolous) Demetriow.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 -4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by a brief service at 4 pm.
