STORMVIILE – John M. Dennehy, 73, an area resident since 1977, died on July 15, 2024 surrounded by his family at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Manhattan on March 13, 1951, John was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Kinsella) Dennehy. He retired as a Certified Fraud Examiner from the US Treasury after over 30 years of service.
An avid runner, John also enjoyed reading and listening to Podcasts. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.
On July 27, 1974 in Manhattan, he married Sheila (Mathis) Dennehy who survives at home after almost 50 years of marriage. He is also survived by his daughters and their spouses, Erin and Andrew Race of Lebanon, PA and Tara and Andrew Davis of Kerhonkson, NY; his grandsons, Aiden M. Race and Henry Davis; his siblings, Peter Dennehy and his wife Maureen, Elizabeth Zieminski, Rosemarie Valdes, and Edward Dennehy; the extended Mathis family; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
