John J. Doyle, 81, an area resident for 25 years, died on February 15, 2016 at the Sharon Health Center in Connecticut. He previously lived in Yonkers.

Born in Yonkers on August 22, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Clavin) Doyle. He was employed as a police officer for the City of Yonkers Police Department for over 25 years until his retirement in 1986.

John enjoyed singing, playing chess, and playing cards.

On June 6, 1954 at St. Joseph’s Church in Yonkers, John married Louise Doyle who predeceased him on November 5, 1980. He is survived by his children, Kevin Doyle and his wife Donna of Brewster, John J. Doyle, Jr. of LaGrange, Colleen Ciufo and her husband Larry of LaGrange, and Christopher Doyle of LaGrange; his grandchildren, Kevin and Briana Doyle, Tara Clare, Jill Diringer, and Sean and Ryan Ciufo; and his great grandchildren Liam and Rebecca Anderson Doyle, Aiden Clare, and Johnny Diringer.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10 – 11 am. The funeral service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Yonkers.
