Obituary

John T. Duhamel, 80, better known as Jack, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2015.

Born on May 23, 1934 in Quincy, Massachusetts, he grew up in Old Orchard Beach and Mexico, Maine. Jack moved to Hopewell Junction, New York in 1963 where he opened a barbershop and was very well liked by many friends. From there, he became a realtor and developer, running three offices and building numerous homes around Dutchess County. He was featured in the Poughkeepsie Journal business section called "A Cut Above the Rest", from barber to developer of high-end homes. He retired in 1988 and moved to Fort Pierce, FL to spend 6 months there and 6 months in Hopewell Junction each year.

Jack loved spending time with family, taking ski trips, boating and golfing. A very faithful man, he was actively involved in his church in New York, Vassar Road Baptist Church, Poughkeepsie, NY, and his church in Florida, Shiloh Youth Ranch, Sebastian, FL.

Jack leaves behind his wife, June Duhamel; son, Jay Duhamel; four daughters, Darci Russo, Tania Hoffman, Traci Gabriel, and Kathy Duhamel; eleven grandchildren, Ryan Russo, Brett Russo, Kirstin Russo, Michael Mikus, Matthew Mikus, Kaila Bowe, Brittany Gabriel, Brooke Gabriel, Brad Gabriel, Riley Duhamel and Conner Duhamel; brother, Joseph Duhamel; and sister, Joanne Campbell. Preceding him was his father, John Thomas Duhamel; mother, Josephine Duhamel Gellatly; and son Michael Duhamel. One man passed away as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a true friend to many. We will all miss his contagious smile and his caring ways.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10-11am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held at 11am at the funeral home and entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Youth Ranch, 10655 Roseland Blvd., Sebastian, FL 32958 or Vassar Road Baptist Church, 72 Vassar Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
