John A. Gianna, 85, a resident of the Town of Beekman since 1988 and formerly of New York City, died on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at his home.
Born in New York City on May 26, 1928, he was the son of Frank and Josephine Marino Gianna. John was employed as a teacher with the New York City Board of Education for 30 years until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed the opera, ballet and ballroom dancing.
On May 24, 1952 in New York City, John married Frances Goetschius who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter Kim Gianna of Hopewell Junction; his son Jamie Gianna; his sister Rose Zolla; his brothers Sal and Tommy Gianna; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 1pm at the Clove Cemetery in Union Vale. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
