John P. Sullivan, known by his friends and family as "Jack", passed away at home on August 11, 2026 at the age of 76. Jack was born on December 6, 1949 in Queens, NY to the late Michael and Mary (Clarke) Sullivan. On October 25, 1985, he married his beloved wife Linda Smarra.
Jack worked for many years as a Tax Compliance Agent for the NYS Department of Labor. In his free time, he was an avid sports fan, especially of his favorite team, the NY Yankees. He loved watching football, basketball and golf. Jack was an avid golfer and skier for many years.
Jack spent his retirement as an active and enthusiastic participant in the Hudson Valley Senior Softball League. His commitment and tireless devotion as the league commissioner provided countless hours of joy. He appreciated and cherished the many friendships he made through the league.
Jack was always very optimistic and upbeat. He took everything that came his way in stride and he always saw the good in people and in every situation. He was always at the ready to assist those in need.
He is survived by his dearly loved wife Linda Smarra; his brother Michael Sullivan; his nieces: Tia Perry, Christine Farruggia, Jennifer Kapral, and Nicole Maritato; his nephews: Erik and Jeffrey Sullivan; his godson John Miller; his mother-in-law Rita Noguier and his dear friend David Domingo.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Timmy and Jerry Sullivan, his beloved aunts Rose, Agnes, Mary, Jean and his sisters-in-law Diane Miller and Roe Smarra.
Calling hours will be held on Monday August 17, 2026 from 3 - 6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday August 18, 2026 at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church 106 Jackson St. Fishkill, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
