Obituary

John Philip Joyce, age 83, of Fishkill, NY, passed away peacefully at home on December 31, 2025, under the care of Hospice.

John was born on February 23, 1942, in Yonkers, NY, to the late Joseph and Marion Joyce. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years and spent 30 dedicated years working for Verizon, retiring at the age of 48.

John was a deeply social person who valued relationships throughout his life. He remained close with childhood friends, visiting them yearly around the holidays and continuing their tradition of getting together for an annual game of curb ball. A devoted member of his church, John attended Mass every Sunday and on every holy day and actively participated in parish social events.

John loved to travel and especially cherished his annual cross-country trips with his wife to visit his son Dean in Arizona making a stop along the way to visit John and Carmelina in Tennessee. John was known for being the first to pick up the phone-checking in regularly with his children, as well as his nieces and nephews-always staying connected to those he loved.

John had a lifelong passion for sports, which led him to turn his hobby of collecting sports cards and memorabilia into a successful business. He opened Diamond Jack's Sportscards in Fishkill, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with collectors for many years. After retiring from the sports card business in 2004, John continued working part-time at The UPS Store in Fishkill.
