John R. Kovarcik, age 88, passed away on September 4, 2023 at Bethel Health Care Center in Bethel, CT. He was born on September 28, 1934 in the Bronx to the late John and Christina (Gabris) Kovarcik.

John was a graduate of Our Saviour Elementary School and Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, NY and Westchester Community College in Westchester County, NY. John proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1955-1957. He worked for many years as a Facilities Engineer for IBM in East Fishkill, NY. He belonged to Shriners International and the IBM Rifle Club, and was a member of the Hopewell Reform Church in Hopewell Junction, NY.

In his spare time, John enjoyed music in the park, doing word searches, and watching old movies.

He is survived by his daughter Carol Goncalves of Danbury, CT and his son Robert Kovarcik of New Fairfield, CT, and their mother and his first wife Barbara Schrack and her husband Raymond; his step-son Anthony Alise and his partner Michele Sardella of Binghamton, NY and his children; his step-daughter Suzanne Parker and her husband Edward of Poughkeepsie, NY and their children; his grandson Joe Velez III of Danbury, CT; grandson R.J. Kovarcik of New Fairfield, CT; and his brother Stephen Kovarcik and his wife Katharine of Olney, MD.

John was predeceased by his wife Jean Kovarcik in 2008.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday September 9, 2023 from 1-3 pm, with a service at 2:30 pm, at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY.
