John C. "Jack" Lawrence, a lifelong local area resident, passed away at home in Fishkill, NY on Monday, November 11, 2024. He was 77.

Son of the late John C. and Marguerite (Schouten) Lawrence, he was born in Poughkeepsie on February 28, 1947. He worked for several years at IBM in East Fishkill, and later retired as an electrician for the NYS Department of Corrections.

Jack was a great cook and truly enjoyed preparing meals for his family and friends. A skilled handyman, he took great pride in working around his house and yard as well as assisting his neighbors with various projects. He loved boating, especially along the Hudson River. He was a longtime member of the BPO Elks Lodges in both Poughkeepsie and Wappingers, where he cooked for many events.

On October 23, 1999, he married Theresa J. (Maduro) Lawrence, who survives at home in Fishkill.

Additional survivors include his daughter, Jody Lawrence; his daughter, Alice Lawrence (Louis Juliano); his stepdaughter, Marlo Gawlak (Brad Seiderer); his grandchildren: Benjamin Joyce (Marilyn), Victoria Sabourin (Tyler), Riley Denham, Olivia Gawlak, and Natalie Gawlak; his great-grandchildren: Emerson, Grace, and Thomas; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 17 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 18 at the funeral home, followed by entombment in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.
