With great sadness, the family of John Lynam regrets to report John's death on Jan. 5, 2022 after a lengthy illness.
John came into this world to parents Ralph Timothy Lynam and Anola (Freer) Lynam on August 9, 1943. John was born in Ellenville, New York. John was an exceptionally humbled person. Taught by his parents to always give back to his community, John did that often in many capacities. John has worn many hats in local government in the Town of Beekman, including 'dog warden', councilman, interim Town Supervisor and many years as Town of Beekman Highway Superintendent. He was self employed as an excavator. One of his last and lasting contributions to the town was his donation of time and effort to assist building of the Town of Beekman Library.
As a local business owner, he sponsored many Little League teams, as well as adult softball teams. At one point, he coached boy's Little League. John attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New YorK. As John's education was interrupted by the draft, he entered the Navy Seabees. He was stationed in Vietnam twice where he ran heavy equipment to build roads, bridges and helicopter pads.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy (Finch, Clerici) Lynam, three step children, Charles Clerici, Carey Clerici (Deanna) and Amanda Clerici-Rosace, (Anthony). Surviving also are his loving and loved grandchildren, Alexander, Austin, McKenzie and Mazey.
At John's request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on May 22, 2022 at the Beekman Library, 10 Town Center Blvd., Hopewell Junction from 11am-2pm. There will be a service will military honors beginning at 11am. Following this celebration, John's ashes will be interred in his parent's plot at Fantenkill Cemetery in Ellenville.
