John S. McCary, 58, of Poughquag and formerly of Mahopac, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh.
Born in Centreville, VA on September 14, 1954, he was the son of Earl S. and Barbara Jean Groff McCary. John was employed as an architectural woodworker for Maurice L. Condon Company in White Plains and Stormville. He loved to ski and had been a volunteer with the Mahopac Fire Department for many years.
On July 8, 1978 in Mahopac, John married Jacqueline Bennett who survives at home. He is also survived by his son and his wife, Sean and Lisa McCary of Columbia, MO; his granddaughter, Lily Grace McCary; his sister, Lynn McCary of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm with a service at 6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Memorial donations may be made to the High Watch Recovery Center, 62 Carter Road, Kent, CT 06757.
